Privacy policy
Provisional version of 10 October 2026, pending legal review. The Spanish version is the reference text.
Sonicrew is for marking a song, saying what you play and getting your band together. We collect the minimum for that to work. There is no advertising, no third-party analytics and we don't use cookies. We don't ask for or store your WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok or Discord accounts: you share with your own phone's apps.
Who is responsible
[PENDING: name or company name, tax ID and address of the controller.]
Privacy contact: privacidad@sonicrew.com.
What data we process and why
- When you create a room: the song link (YouTube or Amazon Music), its public title, artist and artwork, your instrument, the spots you're looking for, the network where you post and, if you give it, your musician name. It is used to show the room to whoever you invite.
- When you join: the name you type and your spot. Anyone with the room link can see them.
- Inside the band: chat messages, the song sheet (key, tempo, chords) and the recordings you upload when playing in turns. Only band members can see them.
- Microphone: it only records when you tap "Record my part". The recording leaves your phone only if you tap "Upload my take".
- Account (optional): if you choose to save your rooms with your email, we store that email, your profile (name, instruments, language) and your room keys, so you can get them back on another phone. We email you a sign-in link; there is no password.
- Abuse protection: to apply limits (for example, rooms per day) we use your IP address transformed with a hash function that changes every day. We don't store your IP in clear.
Legal basis
- Providing the service you ask for (creating rooms, joining, chat, recordings): performance of the service.
- The email account: your consent, which you can withdraw by deleting the account.
- Abuse limits: our legitimate interest in the service working for everyone.
How long we keep data
- Rooms, with their members, messages and sheet: deleted after 90 days without activity.
- Recordings: deleted after 90 days, and only the last 3 per spot are kept.
- Sign-in links: expire after 15 minutes and work only once.
- Limit counters (with the hashed IP): about 2 days.
- Account: until you delete it.
- Emails you send to privacidad@sonicrew.com: 1 year, so we can handle and document your request.
Where the data is and who helps us
- Amazon Web Services hosts the app and the data (Ireland region, EU) and sends the sign-in emails. To serve the website faster it uses its content delivery network, with servers outside the EU.
- YouTube (Google): we ask YouTube for the title and artwork of the link you paste, and the artwork loads from its servers in your browser, so YouTube receives your IP when you view a room.
- Practice links (Songsterr, Ultimate Guitar, Genius) only open if you tap them; from then on, those sites' privacy policies apply.
- Automatic chat translation is turned off. If we turn it on, we will tell you here first, including which provider does it and where.
What is stored on your phone
Sonicrew stores in your browser's storage your profile, your rooms, the keys to enter them and, if you have an account, your session. It is needed for the app to work and is not used to track you. You can delete it in "Your profile → Delete my data from this phone".
Your rights
You can access your data, correct it, delete it, ask for portability or object to its processing. You edit your profile in the app; you delete your account with "Delete my account". For anything else, write to privacidad@sonicrew.com. If you think we have not handled your rights properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the authority of your country.
Age
You must be at least 14 years old to use Sonicrew. If you are younger, don't use it. If we learn that an account or a room belongs to someone under 14, we delete it.
Changes
If we change anything important (for example, turning on automatic translation), we will publish it here with its date.
